MASTERING A RECORD IS THE LAST STAGE IN MIXING A RECORD.

A GOOD MIXDOWN NEEDS LESS OF US BUT TAKES A VETERAN OR A GENUINELY TALENTED MIXING ENGINEER.

OFTEN YOU ARE IN THE LAPS OF THE GODS...

We do all mastering in the control room of Mixroom.one. This is a controlled environment where we can take risks that many studio's dare not take, because control is everything!

RESOLUTION

Mixroom.one

By combining analog gear and digital audio files with different audio resolution, we can create a way higher resolution than is possible within only a digital workstation. This non linear and variable pixel alignment and width creates more depth and realism.

Facility creates possibility!

Mixing hybrid on a large classic console combined with all legendary hardware, and the advantages of workstation audio brings unsurpassed mix quality.

ANALOG / DIGITAL HYBRID MIX AND MASTERING TECHNOLOGY

The very best of both worlds!

To be able to deliver sound and creative content that exceeds limitations in dynamics, resolution and "sound" we rely on both the best in analog and digital technology. The reason is that to be able to create depth within a stereo image of a record, resolution diversity is basically only possible in the analog domain, combining multiple samplerates from our conversion to the mixing console with analog, samplerate absent tools and gear that uses totally non generic samplerates. Therewith we can create analog masters that have the depth and realness of the best full analog mixes done in the 60's, 70's and 80's.

For our digital workstation we have chosen Reaper! For a number of obvious reasons, but also for it's ability to work with video and it's unlimited buss, track, effect and hardware interfacing capability. Plus the exemplary ability to work as slave and master to all kinds of timecode and analog gear. It is simply the most powerful workstation in the world that doesn't sweat on difficult infrastructural tasks.

We are using the fabulous sounding, legendary MCI JH556-LM console (only four of this configuration in the world) that was once the heart of Atlantic Records Studio's Mixroom in New York. This type console is regarded amongst the best sounding consoles ever.

This particular one was used on records by The Rolling Stones, Aretha Franklin, George Benson, Phil Collins, Chaka Khan, David Bowie etc... It is the same console that was at Compass Point Studio's and still at Rockfield Studio's in Wales.

We don't scare from having racks of hardware embedded into a digital mix, or hundreds of tracks and sends to full analog mixdown.

We're currently running 260 digital to analog I/O, making it possible to create a multi hybrid setup consisting of both analog and digital tools in sequence because we can route anything to anything through our 1000 patchpoint console and these A/D and D/A audio lines.

Flip a digital mix to a full analog mix from tape in one go and feel and hear the difference! It's no fantasy, there is real sonic advantage!
